City of Phoenix Web Help FAQs

Technical Difficulties and Getting More Help

Site Access or Application Problems

The phoenix.gov Web site is designed to work best in Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) version 5.x and above and Netscape Navigator version 4.x and above at 800x600 screen resolution. The site is designed to be flexible and work in both the oldest and newest browsers, as well as at higher resolutions. We recommend that you make sure JavaScript is enabled in your browser to ensure that you can experience all the features of phoenix.gov.

Color Problems

The phoenix.gov Web site was designed to work on monitors set for 256 colors or more. 16-bit color (64,000+ colors) minimum is recommended. Use your computer's screen setup program to change your color depth.

Font Sizing

phoenix.gov is designed to allow users to control the size of fonts directly from their browsers. This ensures that everyone, including people with vision impairments or disabilities, can fully enjoy the site. In the vast majority of browsers, the font will default automatically to your browser's specified font settings. This year, phoenix.gov is undergoing an upgrade to a Content Management System. In some areas of the site that have been migrated to this system, such as Aviation, the standard body font will appear as the equivalent of 9-point Arial. To achieve the standard font sizing, be sure that your browser's text or font setting is set to its default level. Otherwise, you may enlarge or reduce the font via your browser's preference settings. In Internet Explorer, the default text size is "medium." Click your browser's Help button for more information on how to control your font sizes.

Slow Response Time

phoenix.gov is designed to provide reasonable user-response at all times. Due to the high demand of the phoenix.gov site, the explosive growth that the Internet is experiencing on a constant basis, and technical difficulties that occur on the Internet from time to time, phoenix.gov response time can vary greatly throughout the day. We strive to provide the public with at least 24-hours advance notice on specific pages that will be down for maintenance or intermittently unavailable. Watch for these messages on the pages you are visiting for maintenance updates that may affect your access to the site.

If you are able to connect with other Internet sites without problem, but are having problems with only the phoenix.gov site, contact us at ecam@phoenix.gov. If you are experiencing problems with the majority of Web sites, please contact your Internet Service Provider.

If you need Water bill payment assistance, please visit http://phoenix.gov/WATER/wsdcontactus.html for customer services. Sending payment-related emails to ecam@phoenix.gov will cause a delay in responding to your service request.

We have designed this site so that you can easily and quickly (fewest clicks possible) find the information you are looking for, from our home page.

There are a number of special ways to locate that information. Our main navigation paths begin with seven menu topics from our home page. These links are duplicated in a dark blue navigation bar at the top of every page on phoenix.gov. They are:

  • Discover Phoenix – Considering a move to Phoenix? Looking for places to go, things to see and do? Look here.
  • Residents - Help for Phoenix citizens, including links for streets, garbage collection, water services, and more.

  • City Government – Find out who your elected City Council representative is. Look up a public meeting time and agenda. Explore the city budget or look up public records.
  • Employment – Stay up to date with the current city job listings or learn more about working for the city. You can also submit an application for employment for many jobs securely online from this section.
  • Youth and Seniors –Children and teens can look up homework help resources, see what’s showing on the city’s educational television channel, KNOW 99, and more. Seniors can find transportation, food and housing information, as well as recreational opportunities.
  • e-Services – Pay your water bill, report a problem, request services, make a reservation, apply for permits. Before you pick up the telephone or drive downtown to City Hall, look here first to see if you can do it online.
